Floris

The history of the quintessential English Perfumery began in 1730 when the founder Juan Famenias Floris, a native of Menorca, opened a barber shop at 89 Jermyn Street in London. The space in the elegant St. James district is gradually transformed into the scenario for the proposition of fragrances and refined accessories: wonderful handmade combs were imported from the Spanish island, and shaving brushes, hair pins, toothbrushes and stropes (strips of leather for razor sharpening) were produced directly in the back-shop premises. A story written continuously by the descendants of the founder (today the company is run by the 9th generation) and studded with various Royal Warrants, awards attributed exclusively by a member of the Royal House. Floris is today the only official perfumery supplier of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and is still located at the same address, in the heart of the city, a stone’s throw from the Royal Court. The catalog offers a wide range of products, based on ingredients of the highest quality: perfumes, but also soaps, toiletries and shaving products and even fine candles and roomspray. Floris admirers include famous characters like Winston Churchill, Ian Fleming and Marilyn Monroe. The secret of success: not following trends, without ever going out of style.
